ROY HILLIGEN

Grown in the Republic South Africa USA bodybuilder ROY HILLIGEN (Roy Stanley Hilligen, 1922 – 2008) since 1943 until 1977 participated at twenty four A.A.U. and I.F.B.B. competitions. In 1943, 1944, 1946 and in 1976 ROY HILLIGEN became the National South Africa Champion. In 1950 after JOHN FARBOTNIK and MELVIN WELLS he was in the third place at the A.A.U. “Mr. America”. In 1951 ROY HILLIGEN was the A.A.U. “Mr. America” Winner. In 1952 he won the A.A.U. “World’s Most Muscular” contest.

USA bodybuilder LEON BROWN (1947 – 2021) since 1966 until 2006 participated at fourty four A.A.U., W.B.B.G., I.F.B.B. and N.P.C. competitions. His best results were first places at the I.F.B.B. 1968 „North American Championships“ and the 1973 I.F.B.B. „Mr. America“ and «Most Muscular» contests.

TERRY PARKINSON

British bodybuilder TERRY PARKINSON since 1964 until 1975 participated at seven N.A.B.B.A. competitions. In 1965 after winning „Mr. Britain“ TERRY PARKINSON was among top three at the 1964, 1965, 1966, 1967 N.A.B.B.A. „Mr. Universe“.

GENADIJ BALDIN

In the sixties of the last Century a noticable Socialist World weightlifting and bodybuilding person was Russian GENADIJ BALDIN (Балдин Геннадий, 1934 – 2013). In weightlifting his trainer was a known specialist ROMAN MOROZ (Роман Мороз). Being interested in bodybuilding GENADIJ BALDIN wanted to know more and addressed a weightlifting Olympic Champion JURIJ VLASOV (Юрий Власов). JURIJ VLASOV told him to find GEROG TENNO (Георг Тенно). After this both TENNO and BALDIN worked in bodybuilding together.

GENADIJ BALDIN was a good bodybuilder of his time and during the 1966 – 1968 participated at various competitions. Also he run a gym in Moscow.

In 1968 GENADIJ BALDIN was among five U.S.S.R. leading persons who created the second International Bodybuilding Federation in the Socialist World. The first federation was created in 1963 under the order of the U.S.S.R. Sport Ministry (Gocskomsport). It was under controll of the U.S.S.R. Weightlifting Federation. It was BOB HOFFMAN who influenced the U.S.S.R. Sport Ministry to set the Bodybuilding Federation. We would like to pay attention that under the efforts of BOB HOFFMAN since 1947 until 1969 World‘s official sport of bodybuilding was rulled by F.I.H.C.. In 1969 F.I.H.C. organized World Weightlifting Championship in Warszawa (Democratic Respublic of Poland). It was a tradition that at the same time F.I.H.C. organized bodybuilding „Mr. Universe“. Then the representatives of the Socialist Countries first time saw live bodybuilders.

Being among the five U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Federation Chairmen GENADIJ BALDIN took part in organizing International Contests in 1968 – 1969 in Klaipeda, Kaunas, Vilnius (Lithuania), Warszawa and Sopot (Democratic Respublic of Poland).

After the prohibition of Bodybuilding Sport in the Socialist Countries in 1973 GENADIJ BALDIN worked with the U.S.S.R. National Weightlifting Team.

Due to great work done to International Bodybuilding Sport the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. International in 2021 awarded GENADIJ BALDIN with the „Honour Silver Medal“.

OSCAR HEIDENSTAM

The father of British Bodybuilding and the “N.A.B.B.A. Crusader” OSCAR HEIDENSTAM (1911 – 1991) since 1937 until 1953 participated at thirteen competitions. His best result was the first place at the 1939 F.F.D.C. “Mr. Europe” (Federation Francaise de Culture). Since 1956 until 1980 OSCAR HEIDENSTAM was the general Secretary of N.A.B.B.A.. Since 1980 until 1991 he was the N.A.B.B.A. President.

REG PARK

One of the best World‘s bodybuilder of his times British REG PARK (1928 – 2007) since 1946 until 1973 participated at fifteen N.A.B.B.A. and I.F.B.B. competitions. During the WWII as Physical Training Instructor he was serving in the British Army in Malaysia. In 1948 REG PARK was present at the second F.I.H.C. „Mr. Universe“ that was organized through B.A.W.L.A. during the Olympic Games in London (GB). Then the Over All Winner was the A.A.U. Star a student of BOB HOFFMAN  JOHN GRIMEK (USA). After this REG PARK decided to follow JOHN GRIMEK way. In 1949 REG PARK won „Mr. Britain“. His parents presented him a six month journey to the US. Being there REG PARK met JOE WEIDER, strongman SIEGMUND KLEIN and a famous A.A.U. bodybuilder  CLANCY ROSS. In 1950 participating at the first N.A.B.B.A. „Mr. Universe“ he lost the title to STEVE REEVES (USA). In 1951 REG PARK is in the USA again.  Then he trained under the supervision of JOE WEIDER. Both of them participated at the 1951 N.A.B.B.A. „Mr. Universe“ REG PARK winning the Category and the Over All title and JOE WEIDER placing fifth in the same Category. Already after fifteen years JOE WEIDER started his „Mr. Olympia“. But now having no I.F.B.B. contests of such level he participated at the N.A.B.B.A. „Mr. Universe“. Later in 1958 and 1965 REG PARK won the N.A.B.B.A. Pro „Mr. Universe“.
