WORLD BODYBUILDING HISTORY.

TWO U.S.S.R. BODYBUILDING CHAMPIONSHIPS.

THE BEGINNING.

First pioneers of bodybuilding in Russia were weightlifters MARK SHAFRAN (Марк Шафран), ROMAN MOROZ (Роман Мороз), the first in the Socialist Countries World Weightlifting Champion GRIGORIJ NOVAK (Григорий Новак), Estonian GEORG TENNO  and GENADIJ BALDIN (Геннадий Балдин).

1966. FIRST SOCIALIST INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION.

In 1966 a bodybuilding contest was organized in Moscow (Russia) where the winner was IGOR PETRUCHIN (Игорь Петрухин, Russia). Also in 1966 the first in the Socialist Countries International Bodybuilding competition was organized in Vilnius (Lithuania). The Winners were IGOR PETRUCHIN, RYTIS MACIJAUSKAS and KLEMENSAS ALSHAUSKAS (both Lithuania); second places won Russian GENADIJ BALDIN, Lithuanians CESLAV TAMULEVICH (Чеслав Тамулевич) and ANATOLIJ PRIC (Анатолий Приц); third places went to Russian MARK SHAFRAN and Lithuanians RIMANTAS ZUJUS and ALGIMANTAS RAMANAUSKAS.

TRADITIONAL BODYBUILDING CONTESTS.

During the bodybuilding prohibition in the Socialist World (1973 – 1987) only few brave persons dared to organize competitions. There were only two regular International Bodybuilding Contests in all Socialist World: the „Amber Prix International“ (1968 – 2023, „Gintarinis prizas“, «Янтарный приз») organized in Lithuania by DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS and „Georg Tenno Memorial“ (1971 – 1989, «Мемориал Георга Тэнно») organized in Estonia by INNAR MARDO (1946 – 2002).

TWO OFFICIAL U.S.S.R. CHAMPIONSHIPS.

Just before the prohibition and prosecution of bodybuilding in the Socialist World the 1971 and 1972 U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Championships  („Чемпионат С.С.С.Р.“) were held. We would like to remind that since 1947 until 1969 the World‘s Official Bodybuilding was ruled by the International Weightlifting Federation F.I.H.C.. F.I.H.C. was a member of the International Olympic Committee. All bodybuilding contests were of two parts: the power exercises and posing. In the Socialist Countries this tradition remained during all years of the prohibition of bodybuilding. Prosecuted by Governments and press bodybuilder were hiding themselves behind the power exercises.

FIRST U.S.S.R. BODYBUILDING CHAMPIONSHIP.

The first U.S.S.R. Bodybuilding Championship was held in 1971 in Russia Severodvinsk City. The Over All Champion was a Russian Severodvinsk Athlete ALEKSANDR LEMECHOV (Александр Лемехов), representing Leningrad City VLADIMIR DUBININ (Владимир Дубинин) was at the second place and at the third place was Russian VLADIMIR CHOMULIOV (Владимир Хомулёв).

SECOND U.S.S.R. BODYBUILDING CHAMPIONSHIP.

In 1972 the second U.S.S.R. bodybuilding Championship was held in Russia City Sverdlovsk. The representatives of six countries of Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania participated at the event. In the short category the Winner was  VLADIMIR LIPJAINEN (Владимир Липьянен), the second place went to BORIS ZITKOV (Борис Житков), the third place went to DMITRIJ CHANEV (Дмитрий Чанев), all from Russia. The middle category Winner was Lithuanian VALDAS ALIUBAVICHUS, at the second place was SERGEJ KIZIN (Сергей Кизин), at the third place was ALEKSANDR NIKIFOROV (Александр Никифоров), both from Russia. The highest category Winner was VLADIMIR DUBININ (Владимир Дубинин), at the second place was ALEKSANDR LEMECHOV (Александр Лемехов), at the third place was VLADIMIRAS CHOMULIOVAS (Владимир Хомулёв), all from Russia.

GLOBAL TELEVISION C.N.N. PRESENTED W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. TO A BILLION PEOPLE WORLD WIDE.

FOREIGN MINISTRY REPUBLIC LITHUANIA WORKS WITH W.F.F.-W.B.B.F..

Today the International Federation W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation) unites 141 Country-Members from all Continents. Every year W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. holds over 60 International Events in various Countries.

C.N.N. NEWS PRESENTED W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. TO A BILLION PEOPLE WORLD WIDE.

Some time ago the Global C.N.N. (Cable News Network) television made a special report on the W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. events that were held in Klaipeda (E.U., Republic Lithuania) in May, 2017. That were the 50-th „Amber Prix International“ («Янтарный приз», «Gintarinis Prizas“, 1968-2024) and the 18-th „Universe“ contests. Due to this a billion (milliard) people World Wide had a possibility to see the W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. International work.

C.N.N. is one of the World‘s most important International News Television Companies. We do not remember that C.N.N. ever reported about bodybuilding sport before. Positively reported... We are proud that the report was about the W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. International Events, that had happened in Lithuania, European Union.

Before this the W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. International also had a number of  reports on other International Television Companies, such as  „Eurosport“, „Sky News“ and many national televisions of various countries through the World.

FOREIGN MINISTRY REPUBLIC LITHUANIA WORKS WITH W.F.F.-W.B.B.F.

Receiving the information about the C.N.N. preparations to make a report from the W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. International events in Lithuania, the Lithuania Republic Foreign Ministry officials addressed the International President DSc. EDMUNDAS DAUBARAS  and assisted him in the common work with the C.N.N. television.

W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. ALWAYS WAS NON KOMMERCIAL SPORT ORGANIZATION.

During the sixty years of it‘s activities the W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. always kept on the real sport side. Though there were various political and economical difficulties, the federation never stopped working on (read historical articles on the International Site www.wff.lt).

W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. athletes always had possibilities to seek the highest titles at the International recognized official contests. Historic statistics prove the W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. is a prestigious International Federation among all federations. One can organize several successful competitions, but it is not the same as the fivty years of serious stable work. The power of the W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. – sixty years of constant International Sport work.

Today the valuables of the mankind changed. For most people money means everything. No morality, only money and lies. The 3000 years lasting Bible Concept of Ruling Menkind is close to the end. Today most of International Sport Organizations are commercial. Even W.A.D.A. (World Anti Doping Agency) seeks profit and this is the reason that not every International Sport Organization can join W.A.D.A.. Such mentioned above organizations  proclaim  commerce, not sport. It is a theater of absurd now and we were writing about this many times before.

W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. will remain conservative and it will not follow other commercial sport organizations.  W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. will remain on the real sport side and this is our priority.  

In difference to other organizations W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. collaborates with the recognized International Sport Institutions, National Governmental Structures and representatives of all religions. All of them notice and valuate the W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. activities. We see the W.F.F.-W.B.B.F. as a strong friendly unit and this is our power.

MODEL FITNESS - WHAT IS IT?

20 YEARS OF W.F.F. - W.B.B.F. MODEL FITNESS CATEGORY.

MODEL FITNESS VERSUS MODEL BODYBUILDING.

20 years ago W.F.F. - W.B.B.F. (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation)  created “Model Fitness” categories at the International and National Contests. Since that time most International federations copied W.F.F. - W.B.B.F. in many innovating activities. During the time “Model Fitness” competitors became muscular and there was no difference from bodybuilders.

At the 2014 W.F.F. - W.B.B.F. World Amateur Championship in Slovakia many competitors were not allowed to participate at the Model Fitness Contest. The reason was their muscularity. Every year more and more muscular competitors try to attend Model Fitness Contests. W.F.F. - W.B.B.F. understands Model Fitness Competitors as a sportsmen without sharp and competitively big “doping looking” muscles.

Step by step W.F.F. federation divorces with W.B.B.F. - fitness goes away from bodybuilding. Until now W.F.F. and W.B.B.F. contests are held together but we will start making them separately too. Fitness is not bodybuilding. Remember - in 1998 I.O.C. (International Olympic Committee)  refused to recognize bodybuilding as sport and the I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders)  federation was “thrown out” from the recognized federations list. From that time bodybuilding is no more sport. Until now only former National I.F.B.B. federations of former Socialist Countries fool their Ministries of Sport and use to get governmental financial support.  Soon the W.F.F. - International will sign the Contract with W.A.D.A. (World Anti Doping Agency).

BREAKING SPORT NEWS.

FIRST FITNESS FEDERATION WITHOUT DOPING.

Some time ago a new national fitness organization was registered in Lithuania. That is the “Lithuania Sport Fitness Federation” (L.S.F.F., “Lietuvos sportinio fitneso federacija”). In the nearest future federation will join the World Anti Doping Agency (W.A.D.A.) World Anti Doping Code. Federation declares fitness sport without doping. Federation invites representatives of all possible non doping fitness activities to join it.

Federation stands on position that real fitness sport is without doping when bodybuilding at the same time means total doping. In order to fool the sport society all bodybuilding federations use to hide themselves behind “fitness” name. They present various “fitness categories” which in real are doping bodybuilding categories and could not survive without doping.

After March, 2025 we can underline the fact that the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. International Internet Site www.wff.lt still is very popular among World bodybuilders. No one ever wrote such analytical articles about history of bodybuilding, about the contemporary situation. For example only today we counted 14 223 attendants who were reading our materials.

We have another record of the Individual Attendants of the month - the International Site had over 200 000 attendants in August. Not long ago the Official Internet Site of the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. International www.wff.lt had a Record Day of Attendance – that were over 21 000 individual visitors per 24 hours.

WORLD BODYBUILDING ENCYCLOPEDIA.

Today the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. (World Fitness Federation, World Body Building Federation)  International unites 141 Country – Members and organizes nearly 60 annual Amateur and Professional International Events World Wide. Looking from the juridical point of view the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F. International is no doubt the Real World Bodybuilding Leader.

Crowning it‘s 60 years of  International Bodybuilding activities, the W.F.F. – W.B.B.F.  works on the Unique Global International Bodybuilding Project -  the „World Bodybuilding  Encyclopedia“ («Энциклопедия всемирного культуризма», “Pasaulio kultūrizmo enciklopedija”).

HISTORIC F.I.H.C. BODYBUILDING „MR. UNIVERSE“ CONTESTS.

Since 1947 until 1969 a member of the I.O.C. (International Olympic Committee) International Weightlifting Federation F.I.H.C. (previor F.I.H., Federation Internationale Halterophile) ruled the World‘s official bodybuilding sport and organized International bodybuilding contests. The Over All Champions of the first F.I.H.C. „Mr. Universe“ competitions were pupils of BOB HOFFMAN (Robert Collins Hoffman, 1898-1985) Americans STEVE STANKO (1917 – 1978; 1947 F.I.H.C. „Mr. Universe“ in 1947 in Philadelphia, USA) and JOHN GRIMEK (John Carroll Grimek, 1910-1998; 1948 F.I.H.C. „Mr. Universe“ during the „Olympic Games“ in London, UK).

In 1963 following F.I.H.C. regulations the U.S.S.R. Sport Ministry (Goskomsport) set the first in the World‘s sport history International Bodybuilding Organization. International Sport Federation I.F.B.B. (International Federation of Body Builders) was established by General Secretary F.I.H.C. OSCAR STATE only in 1970 in Belgrade (Yugoslavia).
